Description of Peterson-Garrett wedding in the Minneapolis Tribune

The home of Dr. and Mrs. Carl B. Peterson at Oak street southeast, was the scene of a beautifully appointed wedding on Wednesday evening, July 11, when their daughter, Miss Eunice Peterson, became the bride of Dr. Milan Wayne Garrett of Swarthmore, Pa. In the presence of 50 guests the Rev. Charles J. Schaufuss read the service in candle light illumination before a fireplace which had been banked with flowers. The bridal party entered to the strains of “The Bridal Chorus” from “Lohengrin” played by Miss Gladys Ehrie, a classmate of the bride.

Miss Mattie Estell Peterson, who served as her sister’s maid of honor, was gowned in light blue taffet and tulle, fashioned with a tight bodice and full skirt. She wore a corsage bouquet of pink roses and blue larkspur. The flower girl, Hazel Gruner, niece of the bridegroom, wore a frock of peach-colored and carried a basket of pink roses.

The bride, who entered with her father, wore a sleeveless gown of white chiffon, made with a tight-fitting bodice and a skirt draped in petal effect, ornamented with a large ribbon bow at the back. Her cap-effect veil of tulle, was trimmed with seed pearls and orange blossoms, and was held in place by a bow of tulle tied in the back. She carried a bridal bouquet of white roses. Attending the bridegroom as best man was Dr. John W. Gruner, his brother-in-law.

The bride received her Ph. D. degree at the University of Minnesota, and is a member of the Sigm Xi. The bridegroom is a graduate of Leland Stanford university, and received his Ph. D. degree at Oxford, England. He is a member of Sigma Xi and Phi Betta Kappa.

The out-of-town guests included the bridegroom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Garrett, El Paso, Texas; Mr. C. Bernard Peterson, brother of the bride, and Miss Harriet McConnell, both of Buffalo, N. Y.

Mr. and Mrs. Garrett have gone to Yellowstone park for their wedding trip, and after October 15 they will be at home at Swarthmore.
