Eames' July 2, 1865 letter to Governor Miller

To His Excellency Governor S. Miller

St. Paul, Minn,

 

Dear Sir,

We returned to this place on Friday evening, from our trip to Vermillion Lake, our explorations have been Successful So far in finding a magnificaint range of Iron Ore, between four and five hundred feet thick, associated with marbles of the finest qualities, for other metals found, have to make an Assay before we can know if they are valuable or not. 

Shall leave here for the exploration of the North Shore on Wednesday next. I have had to draw some funds of Mr. Luce of this place, at that you promised to send by the 15th Ultimo has not yet arrived; will you please send it to him at your earliest conveniance, and oblige
