      Professor MacMillan is arranging with the Soo Line to have an excursion to Osceola next Monday, the 19^th. This will be the general field day for all classes in Botany, Zoology, Geology and Mineralogy.

THE OSCEOLA EXCURSION

      The excursion to Osceola last Monday was a general field day for all the classes in Natural Sciences. It was participated in by the Botanists, Geologists, Mineralogists and Zoologists, about forty in all, and the report a delightful time, as well as a successful one. Baskets full of specimens were brought back to receive further studies in the laboratories. The Botanists were particularly successful in getting a large amount of material. This was accomplished partly because Profs. MacMillan, McDougal and Kellar went out Saturday and improved their time collecting for laboratory use. 

      Another excursion is proposed in this same series in field day jaunts for next Monday afternoon to Minnehaha Falls and gorge and Ft. Snelling and neighborhood. The geological features of those localities will be studied. All interested in this trip should reach Minnehaha Falls between 2 and 2:30 in order to pass through the gorge and reach the steamboat leaving the Soldiers’ Home at 3:15. Student living in St. Paul, who are unable to get to the falls by that time, can join the party at the fort at 3:30.
